What is a Steel Reinforced door ?

-----------------------------

A steel Reinforced door is a wooden door which panels are reinforced with steel leaving a gap of about 5 cm around its perimeter to allow the fitting of the lock and hinges if necessary.

This door is fitted to a wooden frame which in some cases may be reinforced by an iron plate in the area where the bolts go.

As the lock is housed into the door edge, the greater number of bolts, the weaker the door edge will be. Due to the weight the door is fitted to the frame by inserting three, four or five big size hinges which might also weaken the frame as it happens with the lock.

Despite a lock being called a security lock, if  it is a poor quality lock it can be easily violable offering little resistance to the thief who only needs a few seconds with the help of a screwdriver to pry the door open and all its bolts.  Unfortunately this has daily been demonstrated by those who have suffered burglaries and had thought that their door was safe.

Summarizing, a Reinforced security door offers little resistance against attack, a  fact well known by the burglars. This type of door is manufactured at a cheaper price, regardless the quality of its material.

Did you know that most of the security doors in the market have a grade category 1 resistance against attack, which means they can be opened by an unexperienced burglar by only using physical force?
