 European Regulations NEP -ENV1627/1628/1629/1630

European Regulations (applicable in the future to all European Union Countries ), specify the grade of resistance that tested doors require.

  • PNE-ENV 1627-1:
    • Windows, Doors and Blinds.
    • Burglary Resistance.
    • Requirements and classification.
  • PNE-ENV 1628-1:
    • Windows, Doors and Blinds.
    • Burglary Resistance.
    • Resistance under static force.
    • Testing Method.
  • PNE-ENV 1629-1:
    • Windows, Doors and Blinds.
    • Burglary Resistance
    • Resistance under dinamic force
    • Testing Method

  • PNE-ENV 1630-1:
    • Windows, Doors and Blinds
    • Burglary Resistance.
    • Resistance against  manual attack.
    • Testing Method.

In accordance with these norms, especially 1627-1 y 1630-1, doors resistance can be classified  as shown in the following chart:

Grade Testing Method Attack Time Testing Method
1 Without testing manual Burglary The apprentize burglar uses physical violence to open the door, for example , kicking, pushing, lifting, pulling.
2 15 minutes 3 minutes The apprentize burglar also tries to break the door using simple tools, such as screwdrivers, wrenches, wedges, etc.
3 20 minutes 5 minutes The Burglar attempts to go further by using a screwdriver and a crowbar.

4 30 minutes 10 minutes The experience burglar also uses saws, hammers, axes, chisels and portable battery drillers .

5 40 minutes 15 minutes The experienced burglar also uses electric tools such as drillers, and radial disk vibration saws with a maximum diameter of 125mm.

6 50 minutes 20 minutes

The experienced burglar also uses other powerful electrical tools such as drills, radial disk vibration saws with a maximum diameter of 230mm.

The door while being subjected to tests by using the specified tools for each resistance grade, must ensure to avoid any accessible openings (as specified in Eu. Normative). To achieve this, the door will get the classification 1 to 6, depending on the time spent and the tools used. The higher grade classification, the more resistant the door is.

This Norm is not obligatory in Spain (currently) but EUROSEGUR agrees that the client must have a Demonstration Test Certificate where it shows the door resistance grade and so clients can decide which doors best meet their needs.

Crimes against property are an event that unfortunately we all are familiar with, particularly in some areas where they are astonishing increasing in number. Burglaries increase and victims find themselves defenseless because the methods they chose to stop it happening were not the most appropriate. The ease most of the security doors have been enforced make the owner feel of such impotence.

EUROSEGUR recognizes that there is no door completely submitted to attack proof, but they are firmly against the general negative comments on all the doors. We are able to say that many of these burglaries could have been avoided by adquiring certified quality doors for the defense of spaces.
